Posture, Alignment & Strength Training in Los Angeles
Personalized longevity training that builds optimal alignment, lean balanced strength, stability, dynamic posture and movement, so your body stays capable for decades.
StretchFormation’s training program in North Hollywood, Los Angeles is personalized corrective exercise and strength training focused on alignment, stability and movement quality rather than muscle size, designed to support healthspan as well as performance. Each 55-minute session is tailored after a movement assessment, and progress in alignment and strength is tracked over time.
Semi-private memberships and one-on-one single sessions
Our standard format is the 55-minute training session. Memberships are semi-private training in small groups of 1 to 4 people, and single sessions can be booked as one-on-one. Compare memberships and single sessions.
Why alignment comes before load
Tight muscles are often the result of weak or imbalanced muscles. When surrounding muscles get stronger in a balanced way, overworked areas don’t have to work as hard. But adding load on top of poor alignment can reinforce the very imbalances you want to fix. That is why we train position first, then strength in that position.
The five pillars of the program
1. Optimal alignment
We coach how your head, ribcage and pelvis stack, and how your hips, knees, feet and shoulders line up, so load travels through your joints efficiently.
2. Lean, balanced strength (not bulk)
Our Corrective Exercise and Strength Specialists (C.E.S.S.) build strength evenly across the body. The aim is capable, resilient muscle, not maximal size and not overloading muscles to failure.
3. Stability
Stability is control: holding a good position against gravity, load and movement. We train the deep stabilizers of the trunk, hips and shoulders alongside the bigger movers.
4. Dynamic posture
Good posture isn’t a rigid pose you hold at a desk. Dynamic posture means keeping good alignment while you walk, lift, reach and turn. We train it in motion.
5. Dynamic movement
Finally, we integrate everything into whole-body movement patterns such as squatting, hinging, carrying, rotating and stepping, so the gains transfer to sport and daily life.
How a training session works
- Check-in and assessment: how you feel, how you are standing and moving today.
- Prepare: if a restriction is blocking a good position, we may use a supporting therapy such as assisted stretching or myofascial release.
- Train: corrective exercise, stability work and balanced strength training in the new range.
- Integrate: dynamic movement patterns that put it all together.
- Track: we monitor alignment and strength gains and progress your plan.
How supporting therapies fit in
Mobility training alone tends to fade if you never build strength in the new range. Strength work alone can be limited by restrictions. We use supporting therapies to help you access better positions, and training to own them:
- Assisted stretching to improve non-compensated flexibility
- Myofascial release and myofascial stretch therapy for restricted soft tissue
- Gua sha as a recovery tool
- Cupping therapy to help loosen restricted soft tissue
- Graston technique and therapeutic scraping (IASTM) for stubborn, chronic-feeling areas
Who we train
- Desk and screen workers who want better posture
- Active adults and athletes building a stronger foundation
- People who have finished physical therapy and want to keep progressing
- Longevity-minded clients who want to stay strong and mobile with age
Safety note: Our training is not medical treatment. If you have pain, a recent injury or a medical condition, please check with a licensed healthcare provider before starting.
Training FAQs
What is posture and alignment training?
Posture and alignment training is exercise designed to improve how your body stacks and moves: the relationship between head, ribcage, pelvis and joints. At StretchFormation it combines corrective exercise, balanced strength work and stability training, progressed over time.
Is this personal training?
It is personalized, coached training: memberships are semi-private (small groups of 1 to 4 people), and single sessions can be booked one-on-one. The emphasis is different from a typical gym program. Rather than chasing heavier weights or bigger muscles, we prioritize alignment, joint stability, balanced strength and quality movement, the foundation for long-term physical health.
Who is it for?
Adults who want to move and feel better for the long haul: desk workers with posture concerns, active people and athletes who want a stronger foundation, people who have finished physical therapy and want to keep progressing, and longevity-minded clients of any fitness level.
Do I need to be flexible or fit to start?
No. We meet you where you are. If restricted mobility is limiting your positions, we may use supporting therapies such as assisted stretching or myofascial release to help you access the range you need to train.
Can this replace physical therapy?
No. Our training is not medical treatment. If you have pain, a recent injury or a medical condition, see a licensed healthcare provider first. StretchFormation is located inside the JAM Sports and Spine physical therapy facility, and many clients use our training to keep building after rehab.
How often should I train?
That depends on your goals and schedule. Our semi-private memberships range from one session per week to four per week. We will recommend a frequency after your assessment.
