Myofascial Release in Los Angeles
Hands-on soft-tissue work for restricted areas, used to help you access better positions for your training.
Myofascial release is a hands-on technique that applies sustained pressure and gentle stretch to muscles and the surrounding connective tissue (fascia). At StretchFormation it is used as a supporting therapy: when tightness or adhesions limit how you move, myofascial release can help you get into better positions, which our training then strengthens.
What is fascia?
Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and links muscles, bones and organs throughout the body. Practitioners of myofascial release work on the idea that muscle and fascia can become restricted together, limiting comfortable movement.
What happens in a session
Your practitioner locates areas that feel tight or restricted and applies slow, sustained pressure, often combined with gentle stretching or movement. Pressure should feel firm but tolerable. Sessions are tailored to the areas most relevant to your posture and training goals.
How it supports your training
Restricted soft tissue can make it hard to stack your body well or move through full range. By easing those restrictions first, we can spend your training time building strength and stability in better positions. Release work on its own tends to be temporary; building strength in the new range is what helps it last.
Myofascial release vs. myofascial stretch therapy
Myofascial release focuses on sustained hands-on pressure. Myofascial stretch therapy blends those techniques with assisted stretching. Your specialist can recommend which fits your goals, or combine them.
Built to support your training
Supporting therapies help you get into better positions. Our posture, alignment & strength training is what helps you keep them, building the stability, dynamic posture and movement that support long-term physical health.
This service is offered for wellness and mobility purposes and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. Individual results vary.
Myofascial Release FAQs
Does myofascial release hurt?
It can feel intense in tight areas, but it should not be sharply painful. Pressure is always adjustable; let your practitioner know how it feels.
Is myofascial release a medical treatment?
At StretchFormation it is offered as a wellness and mobility service, not as diagnosis or medical treatment. If you have pain or an injury, consult a licensed healthcare provider.
Can I combine myofascial release with other techniques?
Yes. If you want a combination of modalities in your session, just ask when booking. Some techniques require a specifically trained therapist, so request it in advance.
